Known as the “little town with a big heart,” Honea Path is a town of 3.6 square miles with a small population of 3,845 happy residents. The cost of living is low, plenty of job opportunities are available, and the public education system is above average. Honea Path has a quiet, relaxed, suburban atmosphere that’s perfect for young adults to come and start a family in a beautiful, affordable home.
History
Honea Path’s name has somewhat uncertain origins. The town may have been named after William Honey, a landowner and trader in the 1850s, or it was named by the Cherokee Indians. “Honea” means “path” in their native language. Once the town was chartered in 1855, it became a successful cotton mill town.
Scenery
Honea Path has many nearby farms, parks, biking, and hiking trails because of its location in the foothills of the upstate, but also has many green acres of land for sale, ready for you to come and build your dream home in a town as sweet as its name. Imagine a front porch that looks out on a gorgeous sunset over a picturesque foothill landscape. That’s a view as sweet as honey!
Community
This small town is a lovely place for a community of friendly people to stroll tree-lined sidewalks. Many enjoy shopping in local family-owned stores and restaurants during each beautiful season. You’ll find that almost everyone knows everyone here. Locals will welcome you and help you feel “a little closer to home” as their town motto promises.
