Walhalla, South Carolina
Founded in the 1850s by German settlers, Walhalla is a small city nestled at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The name means “Garden Of The Gods” and Walhalla is often referred to as the “Gateway To The Blue Ridge”. Each October the city hosts its annual Oktoberfest to celebrate the German background.
Walhalla is rich with history – complete with a historic Downtown and Main Street, beautiful old homes, churches and various buildings.
Walhalla is also the County Seat, making it home to the Oconee County Courthouse and other county attractions like the Veteran’s Park and Oconee Heritage Center.
